Cage diving with Great White Sharks in South Australia

Ive been facinated by Sharks and Great Whites ever since I was a young girl and watched Jaws for the first time. I became obsessed with them and decided Cage Diving with them was something I just had to do one day! My dad said once I was old enough we would fly to South Africa to do it; but at just seventeen years old I had the opportunity to go to Australia and I just knew that I had to go Cage Diving and see these incredible creatures up close.

We arrived at 7am to board the boat which would take us out to the islands where the sharks were, which was around 3 hours away. They briefed us on everything we needed to know, told us how to get into the cage and use the breathing gear, introduced us to the crew and away we went. We got to see humpack whales for the first time, though they were quite far away it was a magical sighting. We arrived at the islands and dropped anchor, it wasnt long that we had to wait before the first dorsal broke the surface, and then another, and another! I couldnt contain my exctement and was just in complete awe of what I was seeing. The captain told us all to go and get our wetsuits on and get ready to get into the cage group by group.

Here are the images I captured of the Great White Sharks underwater

By the time it was my go in the cage there were six of them circling us, the largest being about five and a half meters long, it was absoloutley mind blowing to see these magnificent animals above the water, let alone from under the water. We got to spend fourty five minuets in the water with them and at no point did I feel scared or under threat. They are such calm and peaceful animals.
